Product Description
A pair of white elephants with trunks raised, hand-painted all over in gold and made as a matched pair.
WHAT YOU GET
Two elephants, one facing left and one facing right.
Each is 8 inches high, 10.5 long and 5 wide, or 20.3 x 26.7 x 12.7 cm, for one elephant.
Each weighs about 1.5 kg, so around 3 kg the pair.
Only the elephants are included. Plants, vases and flowers in the photographs are styling props.
They arrive packed in one carton. Open it gently, as the raised trunks are delicate.
MADE OF
Marble dust and resin, cast in a mould, hand-painted, then sealed under lacquer.
The marble dust gives a cool, stone-like feel and a soft white colour, with a low sheen.
Cast in a mould, not carved from stone. Hand-painted in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
THE COLOURS
White body. Gold floral saddle, gold crown, gold bands on the raised trunk, gold detailing across the face.
Fine black eyes and toes. White beaded anklets above each foot.
The gold is hand-painted, not metal plating, so the floral work varies slightly from pair to pair.
WHERE IT WORKS
An entrance console or foyer table, where the pair fills the surface.
A living room shelf, sideboard or reception counter.
At the base of a home mandir, or either side of a pooja ghar platform, as decor beside the space.
Set them on a flat, level surface indoors.
DECOR, NOT A MURTI
An elephant pair is decor, not a murti of a deity. That is why it can stand at the base of a mandir.
In Indian tradition a pair with raised trunks is believed to welcome prosperity. Nothing is promised here.
A GOOD GIFT
Griha pravesh, weddings, Diwali and Dhanteras hampers. It ships in a plain carton, so have gifts sent to you first.
